Jeffrey P Very predictable early on despite some redirects; which means it had some holes, and was slow without much happening. Despite the overall predictability, the details in the ending were kinda twisty enough to provide some redemption but not twisted enough to make it memorable. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/27/24 Full Review AD A I've seen so many "she or he is not as they seem to be and are hiding something" movies.This one keeps you guessing a little, but, for some reason, even in the first 30 minutes, I knew the husband of the house was just too sweet and kind and innocent and something was up.This movie does not keep you clueless to the end as some better movies do.Entertaining in that the house was awesome so at least I enjoyed the Real Estate exhibit! As for a "Thriller"......nope, this movie was a "been there,, done that" movie. It gives in way too soon to allow you the true enjoyment of a "who done (did) it" movie. This wasn't it! Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/24 Full Review Jeff M Sometimes I wonder if there are screenplay templates that go around Hollywood which give screenwriters the basic outlines of plots for the genre of their choice and just allow them to fill in the blanks. This is a tired formula in which anyone who has seen 3 movies in their lives will be able to give a healthy prediction where this baby is heading. The gift wrapping may be different but the present in the box is the same old same old. I will admit there is one genuine scare that literally made me jump - it's a small moment that lasts a couple seconds but is very effective. And Pinto, from SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE fame, is a sympathetic heroine, although she always seems a bit distressed even when she's happy - I suppose that's because she has read the script. Marshall-Green gives a an increasingly awkward performance that becomes laughable by the film's climactic moments. In spite of my negative review, I would recommend you take a look at the movie even if just for a few seconds to see the house in which our main characters lives - it is absolutely stunning.
