KUCHING (April 12): Members of the Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) have been reminded to stay committed to their mission of building a resilient and thriving Dayak business community by embracing business as a way of life.
DCCI Deputy President Kilat Beriak said this in his welcoming remarks during the chamber’s 23rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) Welcoming Dinner held at a hotel here last night.
“We are always reminded of the words of wisdom from our advisors — that business should be our way of life. The shout of ‘Oo…ha’ must be balanced with the opportunity for networking. Randau Ruai must come with Randau Business,” he said.
The dinner was attended by prominent figures from the business community and government, including DCCI president Dato Allan Keripin Nangka; Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) president Dato Sri Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg; Kadazandusun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) president Datuk Ladislaus Maluda; Persatuan Kontraktor Melayu Malaysia Sarawak president Dato Ismail Suut; Orang Ulu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OUCCI) president Datuk Nelson Balang Rining and Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment Sarawak Datuk Malcolm Mussen Lamoh.
Also present were DCCI advisors Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Leonard Linggi Jugah, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Leo Moggie, former State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion, and Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum.

Kilat took the opportunity to extend Hari Raya greetings to Muslim guests and expressed his gratitude to all attendees, including former Supreme Council members, senior chamber members, and representatives from other business chambers.
He also acknowledged the contributions of the Supreme Council, the chamber’s secretariat, and organising committee for their hard work in making the event a success.
In line with DCCI’s mission, the evening also featured a dialogue session with Sarawak Energy Berhad’s Vendor Development Team, led by General Manager Davis Nasim, aimed at empowering DCCI members as SEB vendors.
“This evening is not just about dinner, but also about serious business — learning, networking, and empowering our members,” Kilat said.
He also highlighted that ahead of the AGM today (April 12), a special Town Hall session will be held to explore opportunities for Dayak entrepreneurs with agencies such as the Sarawak Land Development Board (SLDB), and Sarawak Land Custody and Rehabilitation Authority (Salcra).
The session will be attended by Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi, SLDB General Manager Prof Dr Harry Entebang, Department of Agriculture Sarawak Director Dominic Chunggat, and Salcra General Manager Joseph Blandoi.
Kilat stressed the importance of learning from those who have succeeded and called on members to enhance their managerial and entrepreneurial skills.
He expressed hope that the chamber would continue its efforts in developing a strong and united Dayak business community in the years to come.
“I hope that we will have an enjoyable and fruitful evening, and tomorrow, a meaningful and productive AGM,” he added.
